A pitch selection gives an animation project a platform for industry attention. It does not, by itself, complete the work of financing, producing or distributing the programme.
Annecy’s 6 May 2026 Mifa Pitches announcement records 48 shortlisted projects from 882 submissions representing 95 nationalities, alongside a separate Partners Pitches programme. The figures describe the selection and showcase. They should not be interpreted as a count of projects that secured production finance or a release.
Define what the pitch needs to advance
A project team should identify the decision it wants from the audience. A financing discussion, a production partnership and a distribution enquiry may require different information even when they concern the same creative work.
A hypothetical animation studio can prepare a core project description, then identify the supporting material relevant to each conversation. That keeps the presentation coherent while allowing the commercial question to be specific.
Retain the project’s actual stage
The team should distinguish development materials from approved production commitments. A strong visual presentation can make a project feel advanced, but the operating record still needs to show what remains unresolved.
This is useful for prospective partners as well as the producer. A clear stage description helps both sides understand which contribution is being sought and what the next review would involve.
Track the outcome after the showcase
A useful follow-up record identifies who requested further information, which material was supplied and what decision is pending. The team can then evaluate what the pitch opportunity actually produced.
Mifa’s international selection is meaningful evidence of the breadth of animation development. For B2B readers, the practical lesson is to connect visibility with a defined commercial next step while keeping selection, partnership and production status distinct.
