A returning catalogue relationship can provide a setting for the next programme sale. BBC Studios’ Nordic activity ahead of MIPCOM combines forthcoming productions with established series, making the package structure part of the business story.
BBC Studios’ 30 September 2026 news listing confirms pre-sales from its MIPCOM slate to Nordic buyers. A contemporaneous Advanced Television report identifies SVT and TV2 Norway agreements mixing new titles, returning seasons and earlier catalogue. The disclosed packages illustrate particular relationships; they do not establish that all Nordic territories have the same rights or availability.
Explain the role of each title in the package
A distributor should be able to show which programmes meet an immediate need and which introduce a future proposition. A package can contain both, but the buyer still needs a clear account of what it is evaluating.
A hypothetical broadcaster may value a known series for continuity while assessing a forthcoming title for a different part of its schedule. The sales presentation should preserve those separate roles rather than rely on volume alone.
Keep pre-sales and delivered programmes distinct
The operating record should identify the stage of each work. A pre-sale requires a clear route for later information and delivery, while an existing programme may already have materials available for review.
The commercial team should hand that distinction to delivery colleagues so they can plan the next action. A single package agreement should not conceal which titles still depend on future milestones.
Use established relationships without assuming the next sale
A previous transaction can help open a conversation, but each new proposal still needs a relevant audience and programming case. The distributor should retain evidence of the buyer’s actual interest and decision stage.
The Nordic agreements offer a concrete example of catalogue and new-production activity working together. Their practical lesson is to make the package intelligible at title level while keeping the wider partner relationship in view.
