A film-market plan needs the correct participation status as well as a list of desired meetings. The American Film Market’s 2026 guidance makes buyer accreditation and registration distinct steps.
The official AFM FAQ identifies 10–15 November 2026 in Los Angeles, with headquarters at the Fairmont Century Plaza. It distinguishes pre-accreditation from buyer registration and lists 16 October as the accreditation-request deadline. As this article is dated 17 October, that published deadline has passed; a company should verify its existing status or ask the organiser about its appropriate route before relying on buyer access.
Give the market visit a specific objective
A producer seeking representation has a different purpose from a distributor reviewing available films. The meeting plan should identify which decision each conversation is intended to advance.
A hypothetical company can prepare a short list of relevant partners and a clear description of the material it wants to discuss. That is more useful than treating the event’s scale as a plan in itself.
Prepare the next useful material
The team should know which version of the project information is current and who can answer questions about availability. If an enquiry progresses, the recipient should receive a consistent record rather than several conflicting attachments.
The commercial plan should also distinguish what can be agreed at the meeting from what needs another review. A promising conversation is a milestone, but it is not automatically an executed deal.
Assign the follow-up before leaving
Each meeting record should identify the next action and its owner. A contact list becomes more valuable when it explains what was discussed and what the other party actually requested.
For global independent-film businesses, AFM is a defined marketplace with different access categories. A useful 2026 plan connects the correct participation status with specific commercial objectives and a manageable follow-up process.
