A named localisation pilot gives the industry something more concrete to examine than a general promise of AI efficiency. MBC Group’s first-quarter reporting identifies specific language experiments in its effort to take Arabic programming to additional audiences.
The first-quarter 2026 earnings release says MBC Shahid piloted English AI dubbing for Mawlna and French for Rahma, and advanced an English lip-sync project for Hofrat Johannam. These are company-reported projects. The disclosure does not establish universal quality, audience acceptance or an independently measured saving across the full catalogue.
Define the version being evaluated
A production team should identify the language, intended audience and use of the proposed version. A test of one programme should retain its own scope rather than become proof that every title can follow the same process.
A hypothetical distributor can begin with a bounded sample and record what the receiving reviewers need to assess. The test should be designed around a real delivery question, not only a demonstration of technical possibility.
Include editorial and language review
The output needs people able to judge its usefulness for the intended audience. A workflow should identify who reviews meaning, performance and the final relationship between picture and sound.
Any correction process belongs in the evaluation. The business needs to understand the complete effort required to obtain an acceptable version, rather than measure only the automated step.
Keep the decision record
The team should retain the tested version, the review outcome and the reason for proceeding or changing approach. If another programme is proposed, that record helps identify what can be reused and what requires a fresh check.
MBC’s pilots are useful examples of a platform exploring specific localisation tasks. Their broader business relevance lies in making the evaluation bounded, reviewable and connected to an actual audience and release plan.
