A creator partnership begins to take shape before the first sponsored post is drafted. The point at which a creator enters the planning process can determine whether the campaign makes use of their editorial knowledge or simply treats their channel as a destination for finished material.
The IAB’s September 2026 CreatorFronts recap highlights co-creation before the creative brief is finalised. It describes speakers recommending clear objectives and brand parameters alongside room for creators to adapt the execution to their own formats and communities. This is an industry-event account, not an experimental finding that one process guarantees better results.
Invite input while decisions remain open
A hypothetical entertainment marketer promoting a new series can bring a creator into a discussion about the audience and the campaign objective. The creator can then explain which ideas fit their recurring format and which would feel disconnected from it.
That conversation is more useful before the team commits to a detailed script. If every creative decision is already fixed, the partnership has little room to benefit from the creator’s knowledge of their own programme.
Define the decisions that still need approval
Creative freedom works better when both sides understand the boundaries. The campaign plan should identify the facts that must be accurate, the materials available and the route for reviewing the proposed execution.
A named contact should consolidate feedback so that the creator receives a clear decision. Several uncoordinated comments from different departments can turn a straightforward revision into a moving target.
Record what the collaboration taught the team
The post-campaign review can compare the original assumption with the idea ultimately produced. It should identify what the creator contributed and what evidence is available about the result.
For entertainment brands, the practical opportunity is to make creator knowledge part of campaign design. The CreatorFronts discussion gives that operating choice a clear place in the planning conversation, without requiring every partnership to follow the same creative formula.
