Latin America’s recorded-music growth offers a reason to investigate local opportunities, but a region is not a single release plan. A rights business still needs to identify the audience, partners and operating requirements of the markets it intends to serve.

In its Global Music Report 2026 announcement, IFPI reported 17.1% recorded-music revenue growth for Latin America in 2025. Streaming accounted for 88.1% of the region’s recorded-music revenue. These figures describe recorded music, not the region’s entire live, publishing or entertainment economy.

Choose a specific operating hypothesis

A company can begin with a defined catalogue group and a specific audience proposition. The proposal should explain why the material is relevant, what local knowledge is needed and which distribution relationships can support the test.

A regional growth rate cannot establish those answers. It can help justify the investigation, while the commercial case must come from the business’s own evidence about the offer and the customers or partners it hopes to reach.

Assess the work around a release

A local campaign may require language adaptation, appropriate creative materials, coordination with partners and an agreed review schedule. The plan should name the people responsible and connect the work to the release calendar.

Where a partner proposes activity across several countries, ask for the distinctions that matter to the project. A single regional label should not conceal different audiences, dates or responsibilities.

Define the evidence that will guide expansion

A bounded test can examine where relevant audience activity develops and what commercial reporting becomes available. Keep consumption observations separate from the receipts the company can reconcile through its own arrangements.

The review can then identify whether to continue, adjust the offer or investigate another market. Expansion becomes a series of informed operating decisions rather than the automatic application of a regional growth statistic to the company’s revenue forecast.
